Listing Types Explained

There’s been confusion over “for sale by owner” and “limited service” listings, in terms of what types of property can be listed on the MLS. The short answer is, listings that appear on REALTOR.com are not “for sale by owner” but may have been submitted by so-called “limited service brokers,” including those referred to as “unserviced listings.”

Limited service brokers are licensed brokers who offer seller-clients little or no property marketing services other submitting the property listing to the MLS. For this, the broker receives a fee from the seller.
