Lights, Camera, Action on Chicago’s Mag Mile!
Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 4:43PM As a lifelong Chicagoan and a former television staffer (in the talk show business, no less!) there is no one who has an affinity for this town more than me when it comes to the love of seeing our city in lights. While some gripe about the “inconvenience” the closure of Michigan Avenue has created for some due to the 24th season premier taping of the “Oprah Show”, I contend it is the greatest thing for the city.
Barbara Matthopoulos, Senior Director of Communications and Media Relations
Any time you can get national or international attention on a city as wonderful as ours, why wouldn’t you embrace it!? We have one of the most gorgeous cities in the world, with ample city and lake views to make anyone want more of this great town. Moreover, what a fantastic way to showcase our amazing city, its sensational architecture and the shopping and living we Chicagoans enjoy, every day! Chicago will again be the stage for one of the world’s most recognized celebrities, and what a perfect place than our Michigan Avenue.
E-mail your out-of-town clients and send links to listings near Oprah’s pseudo-stage, today, so they can see where they, too, might have been near had they lived in-town. Or, perhaps you can focus on some of the retail nearby, and how the right commercial opportunity can be theirs, with a little imagination and great negotiation from their Chicago REALTOR.
Enjoy the spotlight today and the rest of the week, as the nation talks about this amazing city we call home, and relish the wonderful opportunity to highlight our great city, which is second to none!
