President-Elect Obama & REALTORS: A letter to my generation's "Man on the Moon"
Monday, November 10, 2008 at 10:54AM As this is my initial foray into blogging, after such a transformational moment in history which is the election of Barack Obama as our 44th President, I feel compelled to post on this important topic.
After the election was called much earlier than many suspected, I went to sleep thinking about how Obama's presidency will impact us here in Chicago. The short answer is that there will be a tremendous impact on this City.
That said, if I had the President-elect's attention and wrote the following letter, how would you finish it?
Dear President-Elect Obama,
I know the economic and real estate problems of the nation are now in your hands; but as a Chicagoan, I hope you still have a soft spot for your hometown. If you could, over the next few years could you fix the following in Chicago to make this a better town for REALTORS® like me?

I believe the impact of this new administration will be how they manage and create public policy that benefits Chicago and other major cities. Too long American cities have been underserved and undervalued and CHANGE is needed and welcomed. To quote the President-elect "What will the next 100 years be like and what will our legacy be?" As he said ths, a young man standing behind me proclaimed with great elation, "Wow he really is challenging me because anything is possible." It's a new world and we are all welcomed.
Here are my ideas of what to tell our new president:
a) Make Americans feel Optimistic and Positive about their Future
and their children's future so that the free market can bloom again
b) Encourage Wise Homeownership
c) Create Employment opportunities - its the American Way
Everybody who can and wants to work should be able to have a job!
d) Bring the Olympics to Chicago - to your city!
President Obama will never forget the place he came from. The policies he proposed are for everybody so there must be fairness for everybody. Just work for something that will help ourselves to survive with the economy we have right now. The President-elect unveiled his American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. Republicans generally agreed with the plan, except for some reservations about handouts to increase state revenue. But Democratic leaders came out strongly against tax cuts outlined in the plan, which would decrease withholdings from Americans’ paychecks and offer tax incentives to businesses that hired new workers. While the small amount of extra cash could help some Americans avoid needing a payday loan, Democrats argue that the tax cuts will not encourage spending. The Bush administration’s stimulus check plans last year made little difference, and many argue that the tax cuts resemble that initiative. Other senators said that energy needs more representation in the plan. To read more about reaction to Obama’s economic plan, visit your payday loan source.
